Thinking about selling your home in the Poconos?

Before you start spending money on renovations, new flooring or expensive upgrades, there are several things you should consider.

I'm Michelle Cappabianca with Weichert Realtors Acclaim in Tannersville, PA, and my first recommendation is to speak with a local real estate professional before making major improvements.

Here are 10 things to consider before listing:

  1. Find out what your home may realistically be worth.
  2. Don't begin expensive renovations without knowing whether they're likely to pay off.
  3. Complete obvious minor repairs.
  4. Declutter rooms, closets, the basement and garage.
  5. Deep clean the property.
  6. Improve curb appeal.
  7. Reduce highly personal décor.
  8. Gather information about improvements, systems, taxes and HOA/community details.
  9. Make a plan for buyer showings.
  10. Have a Realtor walk through the property before spending significant money.

The most important thing to remember is that your home doesn't have to be perfect to sell.

Some properties benefit from improvements. Others may make more financial sense to sell in their current condition.
