As a real estate agent, I hear a lot of New Year’s resolutions this time of year. Some are inspiring. Some are optimistic. And some…well, let’s just say they sound a lot like “I’ll totally start that diet on Monday.”

So in honor of ringing in 2026, here are a few real estate resolutions we all say we’re going to keep—and the truth behind them.

🏠 “This Is the Year We Finally Buy a House”

Said every year since 2019.

You’ve got Zillow alerts on. You’ve got Pinterest boards titled Dream Kitchen. You’ve even picked out a dog name for the backyard you don’t have yet.

Good news: 2026 really could be the year—especially if you start planning before spring panic season hits. (Yes, I’m looking at you, April buyers.)

💰 “We’re Definitely Going to Save More This Year”

Right after the fireworks…before the credit card bill shows up.

Saving for a home doesn’t have to mean living on instant noodles and sadness. Sometimes it’s about strategy, not sacrifice—like knowing what programs, grants, or loan options are actually available. (Spoiler alert: more than most people think.)

🔨 “We’ll Fix Everything Before We Sell”

Every seller, every year.

That loose doorknob? Fine.

The half-painted bathroom from 2021? Artistic choice.

In 2026, let’s resolve to fix what matters and stop stressing over the small stuff buyers won’t even notice.
